To be fair I think that is more of a contractual requirement than anything. I am sure they would just love to hand them out and be free of them but then would get their hands slapped by the Union by not offering them through X-List order.

Where is that spelled out? The MOU specifically states 200% of their regular hourly rate. It doesn’t say, where I can see, that reserves get credit stacked on their guarantee.

It’s seemed to have worked. All the opentime has vanished. And paying a FA double is what $75/hr . Paying a captain $500/hr is a bigger hit financially. But the amount of 200% trips going out has been almost unprecedented anayway.. just carpet bomb all work groups with extra pay.. and survive the week the best they can. January and February are notoriously slower month so I don’t see this as being systemic .

I have no idea how we have FAs work for this $hit and how we even have an airline with 160+ aircraft and 600-700+ departures a day. At the end of the day this business does NOT happen without those in back. Truly amazing to me. |
