Uniform donation for new hires
 

Since new hires don't get a uniform allowance, is there a program in place to donate extra pieces that come with my allowance? Specifically, I was thinking of ordering FO epaulets and FO metal wings instead of CA and donating them to a new hire, since I don't need yet another set. I'd also like to contribute maybe 2 of my 8 shirts or so. Can I drop these in the crew room? Base administrators office?

I'll wait a day for an answer before ordering more crap I don't need and cluttering up my closet.

New hires do get an allowance… just not a jacket.

LMAO. Always felt NK just needed to add injury to insult with the uniform policy. Cr@p training pay, no health insurance, horrible first year pay, and no uniform provided till you are off probation. Why do you want to work here again?

And I know it’s not excactly a fantastic uniform, but not giving it to newhires, while it’s included for everyone else…..

Kind of sad this thread even exists.

No uniform standards here other then just buy ANY blue pants and don’t worry about the shade of blue.

It’s honestly not a problem. Other than the near ubiquitous north face jackets on first year guys I haven’t seen anyone stand out for their shade of pants save one guy with some seriously faded dockers. I doubt the pax can tell who’s not sporting the right shade of blue if I can’t.

My favorite was some CA sporting “shiny” blue pants on the hotel van! FO and I looked at each other like “WTF” did we just see that?

Or there’s the guy that made his own Spirit suit and called it his uniform.

There’s another guy, super nice btw, who does some kinda of ascot tie look instead the standard buttoned up, double Windsor look. By and large, it’s a lot more uniform than the webz would lead you to believe.

I saw that guy, had me puzzled. There is a female CA who doesn’t even wear a tie. I’ve seen her a few times and it’s open collar, no tie. Maybe I’m missing the part in which female pilots don’t have to wear a tie; hell, they even have that sweet little tie I see some wear

On a similar note, anyone interested in a Medium Karbon jacket? Worn a handful of times still like new.

OP thinks a new set of 4 shirts and a pair of pants every 9 months is excessive? LOL

I feel bad for anyone who wears the vendor's uniform. Trash product, feels and looks like trash.

I can’t find the same color pants to match the blazer anywhere so I wear the vendor pants and my own shirts

Even without the blazer I have taken the vendor pants to clothing stores and I can find any sort of wool blend pants that are even in the same color family. Navy most places pretty much doesn’t exist and when it does it’s not even close

Its the midnight navy option, get the poly wool blend. Nice quality for $65 and they will hem them to the inch for a lot less than your local tailor.

Exactly. Get a pressing cloth for the road and they don’t turn shiny for a long time.

I have had good luck with the pant clips on the hangers, clip them at the cuffs, hang in the closet, leave belt on for some extra weight, wrinkles are gone by the morning.

An interesting strategy. I might give that a try with some light steaming from the shower or an iron without pressing. I really, really don’t need to spend any more of my life sharpening creases or removing wrinkles.

A good alternative is jetseam. Same stuff as a cut above but ships way faster.

Yes. That wasn’t the question. It was what matched the blazer. I found the crew outfitters pants to be close enough as a new hire.

Just checked then out. Their pants are not wool, but a poly rayon blend. Which is fine but they want over $60 then and ACA has their poly blend for $20 less and it seems they are in stock.

I’ve never worn a non wool blend of pants but curious to see if they have “shine” that many non wool blend ones have

Once navy is back in stock, I’m switching to lulu lemon commission work pant.

Dark Navy Haggar brand off Amazon because 4 months is longer than training !

Not quite as dark as the tie but fairly close.
