Help from a Spirit guy familiar with fumes...

Hey guys, I'm more up to speed on fumes issues/causes on the V2500 than I wish I was. In other words, not by choice.

Can anyone knowledgeable on the subject give me an opinion on if the NEO has fumes issues more often than the V2500 or less often.

Thanks

I cant answer your question, but I will say that the company seems to take it seriously. We have changed some procedures and added various fume event reports/software changes.

My understanding is we changed to an oil that has a different scent signature so it doesn’t smell like gym socks. May be getting fumed just as much but we don’t smell it. I don’t know though.

The company I follow most closely also changed oil brands. The smell of concern now is almost exactly like the classic black magic marker. It's a sort of sweet chemical scent.

The company I follow closely has very few NEOs relatively, so haven't been able to answer my own question.

Still hoping one of you can.

Thanks.

We use Turbonycoil 600. It is free of TCP which is a known neurotoxin

Thanks, any insight on whether the NEO let's any oil through at the same or similar rates/frequency as the CEO engines?

Oil pressure on the CEO is a lot higher than on the NEO. No idea if that has anything to do with it, but it seems the CEO is worse.

FWIW from a F9 guy, our company’s focus has been more on the APU oil servicing rather than the engines.

Do you run the APU for 3 minutes before you can turn the bleed on?
