Current training footprint
Are new hires seeing any delays in the training footprint right now? Or is it sticking to the timeline that hiring is giving out?

Great to hear. Appreciate the response. Is it just one trip of OE?

Bare min is based on meeting an hour requirement in addition to meeting proficiency standards. From talking to some guys that have recently started OE, they’re doing day trips at the moment.

Training done 100% in Florida these days or any chance of sims being done elsewhere?

Hard to answer, in the past we have used DFW for NH as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Yup. Instructor pilots love to have training “block out” day turns to be used for IOE vs 4 day trips. It’s ridiculous. New FOs on property should be doing multi leg up and downs to get some experience going, not sitting in cruise for 3 hours to LGA going through their folder and getting 1 landing a day.

My first upgrade (few decades ago, and an ocean away), 20 legs minimum with an LCA in the right seat, followed by 20 legs minimum with LCA on the JS and a (regular) FO in the right seat. Maybe overkill, but I think the 7 legs of CA OE I got here might not have been enough if I didn't have pervious experience as a Captain. IOE for FOs was 40 legs minimum.

Yup. Up and downs, up and downs, wash rinse and repeat. Best way to learn the plane. Sitting at cruise discussing crap is a waste of time for new hires. But instructors like those east out and backs. Counterproductive when you consider the purpose of the training flight is for the newhire, not the instructor wanting to be home for dinner.
