Honestly at this point we need to be bought/merged with someone. It appears our management has tapped out and doesn’t care to actually run an airline anymore.

They’re either checked out or ensuring the stock is cheap to make a merger/purchase look more attractive.

At this point it’s gross incompetence to the point of near embezzlement for their paychecks or intentional.

Well put. Ted literally plays his guitar while Rome burns

No one knows what is happening with displacements so any information at this point about those bases is going to change.

Impossible to know how long for a line at this point as the reduction bid has been delayed (probably until July). There’s a lot of movement on the FO side, so doubt it would take too long to how DTW. Until now it’s been a junior base.

Thank you for your responses. I'm will keep an eye on those developments. It's difficult to know whether starting a career at a company with a merger on the horizon is a good idea or not. I go back and forth on it every day.

I was in the same position and chose to give it a shot. I have my checkride in a couple weeks and then will see how things really are. But my .02 up to this point is unless you are from FL and want to stay in FL go somewhere else. This place is a bit of a circus. Since I've been in training we've been in almost 3 IROP situations and each takes 5-10 days to get the system cleaned up. There is no communication on what's happening from the Union in regards to IROPS, the phantom displacement bid cancellation, either potential merger, etc.. The only communication we see from management is apologizing for the situations. That gets old quickly.. At this point they seem checked out. They are doing nothing to try to stem the ridiculous attrition that is taking place in the right seat and they seem content to just cancel flights, park the 319s and wait it out until they can collect their checks from a merger.

We have a town hall later next week and I guarantee they talk about cutting flights and parking airplanes leading to no upgrades over the Summer and stagnation in any growth and the seniority list until a merger happens. Again, unless you're dead set on FL and this is your only option to get out of the regionals, go somewhere else!

You spend way too much time on here to be in training. You’ve literally just summarized the last 3 months of APC bs and called it “your .02.” Go drink by the pool.

Just trying to give others a realistic idea of what to expect. And no these are my opinions generated off of my experiences over the last month and a half of being in training and receiving the same BS emails from management and lack of any communication from our union.

Sorry, but the operation is pretty rough.

Haha funny thing is his statements are 100% accurate so I’m not sure why you’d refer to them APC bs. If I was sitting in the FBO/schoolhouse watching this clown show then I’d be spending my break time updating apps.

I mean what you are saying is correct, but so is what they are saying, sadly. I wouldn't agree with the person saying FL or leave, as there are a lot of people here that have had great careers otherwise and any merger/acquisition could offer up better options. Its really a crap shoot. Everyone needs to make the choice on their own and each person will have stat weights for different things. Its a tough call but I dont think Spirit is going anywhere.

I do agree though, the FL folks work for an entirely different airline than any of the other bases.

Most people here, myself included, are here because Spirit was the only one who called. If you have options, definitely consider them. This place is quickly turning into a dumpster fire. The quick upgrades evaporated quickly because churning FOs is the training center’s priority. We won’t have enough crews to staff the growth that’s supposed to come.

The other side of that is that anytime you announce a potential merger or acquisition, everybody does start looking for other options, even schedulers and mx, even FAs, because they no longer have any sort of certainty. Nor do you invest heavily in new IT - not until you know if the buyer is even going to use it. And so yeah, it’s going to be a bit of a $hit show until it evolves into whatever it’s going to be. But. It’s an investment. A new type rating and a year of low wages, and potentially a year of seniority you are throwing away. Right now I’d have to recommend applying to either F9 or B6 over this place, just for the better first year pay and benefits - even if ultimately everyone winds up in the same successful pilot group, although it’ll probably be a &hit show there too until this all finally shakes out.
