Notified of FO position?

Just wondering how one gets notification if they were hired or told TBNT at Spirit. Interviewed on April 1st, but have received no correspondence - probably not a good sign. Thanks.

Fugitive 04-08-2022 07:09 AM

In the past an email from NK was bad, and a phone call was good news.

YellowBusMarine 04-08-2022 07:24 AM

I’ve known people who didn’t get an answer for a couple weeks and they got the offer. Also, I got my offer by email.

Irishblackbird 04-08-2022 07:32 AM

My answer was via phone call back in 2019, about 2 weeks after interview... funny thing is it took me two call attempts to get a hold of her after the initial voice mail while was on a trip with my old regional.

I've always heard they like to make these calls on Friday. Hopefully your phone is about to ring.

blueskies27 04-08-2022 08:25 AM

I interviewed that same day (afternoon session) and received a call the following Monday. They left a voicemail while I was flying and took a couple days to finally get a hold of someone and they offered me a class date. Hopefully you get a call soon.

colonials13 04-13-2022 02:43 PM

Did anyone who got the cjo phone call receive any follow up correspondence via email or mail?

PilotCarbon 04-24-2022 10:08 AM

I had my in person interview on the 18th Haven't heard anything back yet. Felt like the interview went well. Fingers crossed.

FL41 04-28-2022 01:11 PM

I just got an email yesterday that said they have reviewed all of the applications from the MTC (I went April 5th) and they will be calling the "preferred requirements" first and then applicants who have minimum requirements.

I got that email within a few hours of emailing about the MTC event coming up on May 9/10. I haven't received an invited for that one yet.

Not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but its also not a TBNT so I have that going lol

I went to MTC in Feb, just got an invite to interview last week. Headed to FLL on Tuesday.

PilotCarbon 05-03-2022 07:55 AM

It's now been 2 full weeks since our in person interview on the 19th. Nobody in my interview class has heard a peep from spirit, good or bad.

FWIW, I got the same email after attending MTC in January. Many follow up emails sent, went to TPNx late April specifically to speak with Spirit, still nothing.

In the time since I’ve got an offer from Frontier without doing anything special, so not sure what triggers the invite from Spirit.

No news is probably good news then

So if I’m submitting a new application do I have to retake the Gallup? My other application is still on file right now with the assessment complete. I’m assuming not since I don’t see anywhere to click to take it but under status it says waiting on Gallup assessment

It will say that on the site, but the Gallup assessment isn’t being used anymore.

thank you! Any chance you know how often new FO windows open? I thought I only got 1 app per year so I waited a whole year to submit a new one and I seen this has been available for some time. Kinda bummed but better late than never I suppose

We’re losing 40-50 pilots a month. The windows is open to perpetuity.

Honestly, the way to get hired is attend a MTC event. Send your resume to the MTC email and they will send the invite. On the spot interview for most that attend.

Ouch I don't like the sound of that.

I interviewed on a Friday, last month. Got thumbs up call the following Wednesday.

imagine this "joy" coming here. unless you live in FLL or MCO and even at at that. Im not convinced anymore your not better at your regional the way this place is run. Good luck and your UA application awaits.

Been here 9 years. Have had no big problems that have been any different from my friends at Delta, United, AA, southwest and JetBlue. Just curious, where is this perfect airline that’s out there somewhere, apparently. And, more importantly, with everyone and their dog hiring, why can’t you get hired there?

Multiple DUIs, checkride failures, chronic irritable bowel syndrome, not being allowed within 1000’ of a school zone or Chuck-E-Cheese…

We have a pool for the actual reason Trylabyte can’t seem to get hired anywhere in the single most prolific hiring climate in decades, $100 gets you in, $20 for new hires.

You have been incorrect on everything. So the best advice is to do the opposite of whatever you suggest.

Seems like every forum has their share of Negative Nancys. And there are a handful of people that love to troll multiple forums bashing each airline and predicting nothing but gloom and doom, which seems to incite unrest in people. It's a shame these forums are like that, but it is what it is. My advice is take a lot of these troll-like posters with a huge grain of salt and simply enjoy what you do. We get paid to fly airplanes and most of the time it is pretty darn fun.

Work hard, have fun, help others, and continue to position yourself to be competitive for your airline and/or plane of choice.

Sincerely,
Someone with 5 months in this career and at SkyWest

Who cares we get paid to fly airplanes? Like this is some sort of gift the airlines give us, paying us AND letting us fly planes?

Fair enough though I'd rather be negative then bury my head in the sand like so many at least on this forum do. I rarely run into a NK cheerleader on the line. Actually not sure that has ever happened except for the guys fininshing out their golden years here who dont really care either way.

Really is there anything good though?

The displacement?
The mgmt?
The getting locked in a basement in puerto rico ?

someone please, tell me anything good about this place. If I were a person looking at this place I question why they would come here. I wish this place had shown its true colors before I accepted the offer.

In other words after we get bought out by F9 and franke presents a contract on par with what Franke would offer, all of the fanboys here Cinco, CLE to IAH etc are the ones who are going to sell us all upstream instead of fighting or holding out for anything. Why? Because they think everything right now is just fine and criticize anyone who thinks otherwise.

Franke owned us in 2010 when we got, after a strike, an at the time, industry leading contract. Granted it lasted like 3 months before it was eclipsed, but still, it happened under him. Tell me you spent 9 months at skywest and plopped right into in airbus without telling you spent 9 months at skywest and plopped right into an airbus.

so for 3 months you got a good contract? sorry and this isnt against you or anyone but frankly it sounds like Franke got what Franke wanted. Just like Franke is going to get this place again for pennies in comparison to the B6 offer. Expect another "groundbreaking" contract inbound. I know I'm ready to pay for Flica and have to present a doctors note while getting my base eroded from under me. Honestly cant wait.

Such a rookie. Don't worry, most of us have been here before, with Franke, and will get it done while you scream about how the sky is falling. Grow a sack, kid.

Just an update. This place has all the problems I've listed and zero ways to fix attrition. Subpar contract incoming. It will be senior captains v mid tier and below fo's battling between retirement, pay scales and time off. Can't wait. Your sack can lead the way.

How I ever got here really blows my mind. The operations officer can't even format an email. Literally.

Something got you here though didn't it? It was your choice to come and it is your choice to stay. I would say that if you live in FL, this is one of the better places to be at. The other bases have their unique challenges for sure, regardless though you can leave.

On a side note, is there a way to block someone?

Troglodyte- If the company fixes attrition, great. If they don't, even better. The wheels will have to fall off for them to be proactive. Their solution is turns. Once that idea fails it will be another until the Board makes a change. Until then I keep moving up 10-15 positions per month. These are people that are probably younger than me and will make my long term seniority better. I suspect it's even better for you. Look at the delivery schedule- the planes are acomin'. They have 6 months to make a meaningful change to stem attrition and if they don't... Good. More bargaining power. Literally.
