It depends. Long term, a new hire will probably never see DFW as a captain. We have 5 year captains being displaced. JetBlue is a big unknown. They might grow it or close it, or somewhere in between. Short term, with all of the attrition, there have been a lot of junior guys getting DFW.

Thanks for the input, I’ll pass it along!

Pick an airline and move to that airline’s biggest base. Not hard in today’s environment

Have the reductions been posted? What DOH is able to hold ORD?

think the DOH to hold ORD was somewhere around the Reagan Administration.

For ORD FO it’s hardly any hit. The mock award, which is just an estimate, has FOs still very junior for ORD, few months out of class.

ORD CA estimate is a 1210 seniority, August 2016 hire date.

DTW CA will be around Sept 2016
DFW CA will be around March 2016

So the DFW plug will be the worst, almost 7 years when this is effective Feb 2023.

LoopsMcDoops 11-03-2022 11:26 AM

So Spirit is shrinking DFW and Frontier is expanding (opening DFW crew base).... Hmmmmmm, seems suspect.

GrumpyCaptain 11-03-2022 11:58 AM

Won’t be surprised to see 5-10 new hires leave for Frontier… They will upgrade about 4 years quicker than here at dfw.

I'm excited to see the addition to the attrition list!

Also general sentiment is it will go very senior.

It will end up just like every other base. It’ll go senior for the first vacancy or two, and then go to whoever wants it. Then a year later, some random senior DEN people will filter in.

What's the over-under on Spirit giving up a few gates in DFW before JB takes over and Frontier getting them? :D:(

I don’t know who officially “owns” those gates but I highly doubt JBLU would be ok with Teddy giving up gates, in a legacy hub, to ULCC competition.

They may say (JBLU and NK) that they are competing airlines until a deal is approved, but we all know Ted kneels for Zod

Maybe they'll build hard stands considering the lack of space in DFW? Or maybe Teddy already gave away the farm and they'll take Spirit gates? The only thing we can say with certainty is the employee is always the last to know.

they park over in the stands where the theoretical new terminal F would be. We followed one back from Cancun one day and that’s where they parked. There were 1 or 2 other sunny planes all ready there.

I doubt anyone will give away gates at DFW without a serious fight. In the most recent state of the airline, Isom (AA CEO) discussed progress of the new terminal F. Negotiations are ongoing with the airport, but at the moment if you wanted to build a replica of terminal D on the terminal F site you’re looking at a whopping 150 million/gate. Yeah! Per gate!

So in short, if anyone owns any real estate at DFW, I bet they’ll be hanging on to it with a death grip.
