Default Dengue in Peru

I’m surprised I haven’t really heard anybody talk about the Dengue fever in Peru (Company or Union) Just seeing if the situation is really as bad as the news is making it out to be, because I’m supposed to have a trip down there in the next week.

Anybody that has been down there recently feel free to comment.

Wear your mosquito repellent. Stay in the cockpit or enclosed areas of the building as much as possible. Expedite your walk around. Dengue rarely kills young healthy people:

Between 2014 and 2017, the annual dengue case fatality rate (CFR) ranged from 0.02% to 0.04% in Mexico, 0.04% to 0.07% in Brazil, and 0.06% to 0.16% in Colombia.4
But it’s not called “break-bone fever” because it’s pleasant to get.

You think they are going to talk about dengue when not a peep has been said about Haiti. The entire country is lawless right now. Has the company or union mentioned what happens should we break down there. I know I’m not leaving the plane. Not a single security update on that hell hole and we go to two destinations there every single day.

My 10-9 page when I'm King of Spirit:

Ignore the 16 year old Peruvian TSA/Policia on entry stripping you down on entry to customs in public (a little unusual, if not humbling). Then knowing where to stand in the crammed parking lot waiting for the limo pickup, watch your pockets. No concern the security armed guard, with a family to protect) would be the guy most easily bought out by a cartel and you'll not end at the Miraflores, but behind a gated safe house, waiting for a deal to be cut (by the JCBA) for your release.

Unfortunately, as reported (or not) a rather popular (with some guys) house of ill repute is within walking distance. Spirits DEI office doesn't judge, but a wealthy Gringo flashing cash to the wrong girl under Peruvian law and discretion is improbable. Don't lose an FO to whatever Greybar Hotel that could lead to. Apparently, there is a very popular 24hr. LGBTQ dance club. Many a Spirit FO and FA bid the flight for those kicks and tricks. Again, another chance for being too wasted to make the flight home or worse, picking the wrong romantic partner is improbable.

According to certified Hang Glider and PPG pilots, the paraglider "10 minute intro flights (landing and departing in the same (LZ-on top) appeal to the brave of heart, younger pilot with b@lls of steel. With some of the best and safest training by USHGA pals and instructors, The tandem procedures, and Tandems simultaneous departing and arriving in the not new equipment the operators could afford, will most likely be a memorable experience worthy of a free high five.

As CA it's required to give the following brief: If you have sole custody of a 12 year old kid, and they insist on it, this is the required briefing:
"Bob, your asking me to make the phone call to "little Bob" and recite: "Little Bob, the good news is you can have as much Ice Cream as you want tonight, The not so good news is Big Bob isn't coming home anymore".

The rust free outside hotel fire escapes are not a concern to crewmembers. It's only a 15 story climb. So as a safety concern, comply with any alarms as in instructed
in Spanish.

The approach may foggy, but never reported below TAF minimums, so you'll have plenty of reserve fuel. Once you see the lights, just land, as the taxi is straight forward.
