I’m really sorry that JetBlue got in the way. Their plan to shut down an ULCC and plunder their assets was anti-competitive and it makes sense that the judge shot it down.
Alaska and Hawaiian will go through. Frontier and Spirit would go through as well.

A Frontier and Spirit merger is both good for the combined company, as well as good for consumers overall.

agreed! Spirit will file chapter 11 next year, and in bankruptcy court they will determine that we just liquidate and we go down like Aloha, Braniff, Tower Air…just an old memory lost in the fog of time.
meanwhile after I cry about all my Spirit stock I lost, I will be okay because I will hopefully do well on my United interview and have the pleasure to entertain the United pilots with my unfounded rumors on their forums

I disagree. Airline seats are a commodity. All else being equal, people will generally buy the cheapest seat. Spirit has the lowest CASM, so they could easily have the lowest overall prices (including all the extra fees).
Spirit (and Frontier) are both retrenching. They are reducing their markets served, and adjusting their flying to more flights per day to fewer markets. That prevents the issue of your one flight a day being cancelled and being stuck for another day. Consumers will buy the cheapest fare, assuming they believe it will actually get them there.
Spirit and Frontier merger would fix a lot of the scale issues that each individual airline is dealing with right now.
