The plan going forward
TC alluded to this a lot in the earnings call. But the plan in the mean time before another merger is we are going to change to a full service airline (Yes, this will be the big announcement that he talked about for June or August) He mentioned people that no matter what will avoid Spirit no matter how cheap because of the bad experience.
So when we go to a full service airline we are also going to be getting rid of the name Spirit (it’s been tarnished) I believe the short list for the new name of the airline are Clever Airlines, Voyage Air Lines (Delta way to spell Airline…makes it extra gravitas), or Harmony Airways. We will get rid of the loud yellow color and have proper uniforms for all employees. but going back to what I said in the beginning this is in the mean time while we wait for another merger. Spirit was never meant to be around for the long haul. Signs in the industry point to Southwest or Frontier again. (And before you ask, both airlines would be an actual Merger and NOT an acquisition) |
Flight crews aside, a customer service culture shift will be a very hard thing to do
|
Still Spirit name and still yellow. Did you even listen to the call?

It’s happening.

You guys just witnessed the first step of Spirit Airlines abandoning the ULCC model with Ted’s email last night. Next we will start to announce things like free Cary on bags/food and drinks. Increase in ticket prices. Then, debt will be spread out of the next few years so we can be solvent. it’s happening guys #KleverAir #SouthwestMerger #UnitedMerger? #ThisOnesForYou #TheWheelsAreTurning #RIP_Pebbles |

WN doing a merger you say? 🤔. If I was a betting man I would say acquisition is a more likely scenario and I give even that long odds.
merger vs acquisition potato poaatato |
This is where JB and NK legal teams failed. They allowed the DOJ to paint a Picture that spirits buisness model was static and it would never change. Despite the fact and spirit and JB have both changed their buisness models at least once each in the last 15 years. The judge bought it and based the majority of his decision on it.
Now there is a good chance spirit will move to a business model that is very similar to Jb after all. |

Ted Christie on the stand could have said “Our business model cannot continue as it stands today, we need to rebrand as a full service carrier.” Merger approved.

would you rather see us fly between Flagstaff, AZ and Scranton, PA? |
That would be cool adding DCA as a station, but I'm surprised they don't want to fly from there to our usual destinations first.
I remember the river visual being kinda fun. |
DOT deciding between Spirit doing SJC and Alaska doing SAN-DCA. I remember Spirit calling the DOJ a bunch of hacks on the last earnings call and having no political influence.

Can your planes go DCA-SJC with the shorter runways at DCA?

Yes, DCA isn't short, it's like 7000ft. Other airlines with the same planes do it every day.

Im thinking it would have to be a neo. I don't think an A320 ceo has legs for that, especially with an alternate which is usual in the Bay Area. Regardless of runway length.
