Honestly, I had no desire to leave or wanted to leave. Just like many of us at the time. Once the JB merger failed we didn't know what was going to happened. I applied to the big 3 out of fear and more like a back up. Even up until the interview I wasn't sure I wanted to leave, but at the end I was happy I made the move.

Anyone receive an interview invite today?

I did. I got the email at nearly the exact time I was reading the speculation about impending liquidation. "Hire till you close the doors" I guess. I applied mostly to keep my options open in case they really did turn things around. I figured there were two options: best case they pull through and I'm on a seniority list that will eventually start growing again, and worst case I build my resume until they close their doors. It was always going to be a risky move, but now it's looking like all risk and no upside, so I don't think I'm going to schedule the interview. I really hope I'm wrong though and that they can turn it around for everyone there.

I don’t think there’s any real downside to scheduling the interview tbf.

Yeah, the slots are two weeks out and I suppose a lot could happen or not happen in that timeframe.

SAFlyerFL 04-17-2026 07:12 AM

I’ll see you there. Should be an interesting couple of weeks.

mudpie 04-17-2026 09:17 AM

Better start prepping for questions like, "Why do you want to work at Spirit?"

Pretty high risk of being out of a job in the middle of training.

A lot of former employees that thought spirit was shutting down left to go to legacies. Now they are really struggling with the fact the Spirit is going to survive and they walked away from decades of seniority. Don’t listen to their nonsense.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! My man, you owe me a new computer screen, I just spit my coffee out all over it.

I’ve flown with at least a dozen former spirit pilots. All loved it there, but they saw the writing on the wall and bailed.

Show us a pic of your screen. I highly doubt you spit coffee out at all let alone all over your computer. Dumbest thing people write on the internet

Youre a ****ing idiot for applying to NK regardless.

Business as usual. Interviews and classes going ahead as planned

SAFlyerFL 04-22-2026 02:48 PM

How about latest gouge on the interview process? Been asked on several forums but nothing recent.

Stankhunt42 04-22-2026 03:51 PM

Have there actually been any interviews?

Not yet, there are two sessions planned for the end of month.

That's probably a solid (no idea if intentional or not) for prospective hires. Either the bailout is fundamentally sorted by then or the fallout has become apparent...

SAFlyerFL 04-25-2026 12:01 PM

So for those attending…anyone have the latest interview gouge?

Why Spirit over UAL/DAL or AA? How come the people who gave you internal rec are no longer employed here and moved on?

Maybe because Spirit called and the other three didn't? It's not like we don't have apps out everywhere, but this isn't 2023 anymore. Sometimes you gotta dance with the one that brung ya. It just remains to be seen whether Spirit is going to show up or not.

better have a plan B...

rickair7777 04-25-2026 08:32 PM

I don't know if I'd quit a stable job for a class at NK right now. I guess maybe if you're young and single, and can still move back in with Mom in a pinch.

It's not like class will be this week, first classes will be in June so I reckon if Spirit is still around by then it would be with some sort of government backing and they can make a decision then. Interviewing now regardless seems like a good idea.

I feel for those 155 recently recalled pilots who are just coming back on the line now and may have just left their 91/135/regional operator to return.

This is plan C for these guys. Only ones I know looking to interview are low time CFIs who have been rejected by every regional. I wish I could have skipped right to a ULCC. NK used to have standards…very sad

SAFlyerFL 04-26-2026 06:12 AM

Soooooo…no gouge, I guess?

The last interviews were done nearly 3 years ago.. so no recent gouge. I'd imagine the gouges on aviationinterviews would still be good though.

if i recall correctly they are very big on 'why spirit' which will be interesting in the current environment.

Figured that was the case but you never know who’s floating around on here that may have some additional knowledge. The “why Spirit” is definitely the million dollar question. Wonder how many people will be interviewing this month.

If it were me I'd frankly acknowledge that I'm accepting some risk and uncertainty in order to hopefully get in at the start of a new era. Something like that.

You can't plausibly just ooze yellow koolaid, it's too unrealistic.

Maybe say you hope to live in one of their niche bases (obviously have a reason for that).

Just tell them you "appreciate a good comeback story; Rocky, Seabiscuit, The Mighty Ducks...and of course, Kim Kardashian"

Well done. You’re hired!

I’m curious how many applications they have now? Even if the company is on extremely rocky ground I would give it a shot as a CFI looking for turbine time. Why not? What is there to lose?

Last training department email said over 1000 applications.
