Additionally, I'm surprised by how many of these recent candidates demand to be spoon fed the gouge, almost as if it were owed to them, versus actually doing a little research and spending time reading through the hundreds of posts already addressing the subject.

Downloaded the other day, nicely done, thank you!

Oh, the irony. You call out guys for wanting a gouge but yet you download a systems guide instead of doing the research yourself.

Right. I also use company provided study material instead of just reading the Airbus AFM - because I'm just so lazy. I was criticizing the folks asking the same question that's asked every three pages. ;)

If I had to pick from those 2. You will get a line quicker in LAS. I was on reserve for 5 months in LAS.

I think DFW would have more movement. Most of the current block of upgrade seniority got hired into DFW. Either way I think you will have a line soon.

Applied in Early sept, went to a job fair in Denver at the end of September and got the call first week in Oct. I'm an ex military c-130 driver/ T6 UPT instructor with 3k total with 1000 pic turbine. I think the job fair was the key. Been pushing off the interview till my wife finished with school!

Thanks and good luck!

I've got very similar times (military as well) with internal recs and have been told to re-apply when I hit their 4K hour mins. Did they mention anything about reduced hour mins for mil guys?...or do you think it was the job fair?

It was the job fair. I had heard that unless you go to a job fair they don't really consider you. The guy who looked over my resume circled my total time and PIC and put "Mil" next to it.

DFW isn't moving at all on the FO side. Seven months in and my relative seniority is virtually unchanged. Plan 12 months+ to hold a line in DFW. DTW and FLL are much more junior followed by ORD and LAS. My seniority would hold in line in LAS right now. Of course that could and probably will change soon.

I think most new hires are getting DTW and FLL. DFW and LAS are going senior, but this is all relative. You're not going to be waiting years to get any base as a FO, maybe a few months.

Congrats on getting hired, I'll echo Wisconsin's sentiments, if you can study prior to coming down for training, the better off you'll be. Personally, I concentrated on Limitations and Memory Items, Checklist responses and Controls and Indicators.

For our military guys, congrats on getting hired, Memory Items aren't Boldface, it took me awhile to figure that out.

I understood the minimum for military pilots to be 3,000TT rather than 4,000.

Lobaeux 12-06-2015 04:52 PM

I think HR has swung back to 4000TT for military, not 100% sure, but I'll check.

And, as far as I remember there's no conversion either.
