I liked the MD, but the 320 is my favorite so far. It is roomy, pretty quiet and is nice to fly. Of course, I am young, so never been on a three holer.
The tanker had a 350/0.90m Vmo/Mmo and you could cruise ALL day long at those speeds but go beyond 0.90M and she went into a Mach tuck and you had to get the power to idle and the boards UP or she was off to the races. Not pretty.

The 727s we had could be flown in the A mode if your ZFW or max weight was below a number and if higher you had to fly in the B mode which was limited to about 350kts. In the A mode, however, you could run above 400kts indicated. (just came to me.. ZFW 136,000 or T/O above 176,000). The Tri-Motor was a great machine and flown by the numbers, it was a reliable airplane that would do just about anything you asked.

Enough said.

In my opinion, the 727 is the second best looking airliner in history, next to the md-11.

Some of the "noises" from the 737 are from the recirculation fans for the avionics. If you turn one off in flight for a short moment, you'd notice some difference right away. Ear plugs are a must on the sparrow. The cockpit is crammed enough that yellin' is a bit easier than let's say, 727.

Wow.

Anyone else notice the dead windshield wipers, parked mid-travel, on the first jet?

Wonder what else doesn't work.

A tribute to the design that it can operate off a dirt-strip with shoddy maintenance and humidity/corrosion and still work.

Some 737 operators do total mods on blocking out those eye brow windows. I imagine that should abate some of the noise in addition to maintenance costs with those windows gone. When those recirc fans are on indeed, they are very loud...

It's the norm. It's pretty nice to not wear a clamp headset below 18K.

Many pilots use "in-ear" headsets, where a custom ear mold with audio and a boom mic are in one ear, leaving the other ear open to listen to the other pilot/jump seat rider.

Keeps your hair looking nice, you don't sweat in the summer time, and its comfortable. If your that worried about ear protection, put an ear plug in the other ear. You can still hear the other pilot with one in.
