The Aviation Herald

A majority of the events reported require judgement, people skills, and technical knowledge. Human involvement is still critical.

Sure it is important to have human involvement. However in the future that involvement will come from the ground as well.

Just think of what an anti-terrorist arrangement it would be to have planes controlled from the ground or sky.

Sky, don't take this the wrong way, but if everyone on these forums agreed with you, would you still post?

This thread mysteriously comes off as another attempt to justify your decision to leave the profession.

How is the flight training coming along? Have you soloed yet?

That would be great. Until the bad guys figure out how to hack or jam the signal.

Ground-based transmitters can be sabotaged. Satellite signals are EXTREMELY weak compared to the RF comms we are used to using in aviation...localized jamming is not too hard.

Anti-jamming methods exist, but they are cutting-edge military technology, ie classified and expensive as hell.

He seems to be doing better than you, reduced to a meager existence putting others down on the internet.

Put Down?

I don't put anyone "down". I present ideas and engage in debate. Some here interpret concepts that are different from their own as being negative or as a put down.

If you or others here do not enjoy a healthy debate once in a while or hearing another view then perhaps a propaganda web site would be better place then a forum?

Right, if the signal is hacked hopefully there will be an awake pilot up front who can take over. Under a ground controlled system with a pilot back up it would have two people in different places to better insure security.

I didnt read the entire thread, but latency is also a big problem when you are trying to control an airplane going 500mph with a signal delay of several seconds.

Yup. Definitely sounds like presenting ideas and engaging in debate to me.

I just earned my commercial license, Sky, and have started looking for internships and employment. I'm in this battle just as much as the next man. And you still baffle me with your equivalence of accomplishments in the aviation industry to one's acquisition of common sense and basic knowledge about human nature.
