Thumbs up Great Airplane!

When it first entered service, the 727 made some hard landings because it was so different from the pilots' previous airplanes. Wipe the power off too early, especially at 40 flaps, and it becomes a brick. Attempting a "save" with the yoke will not help. Pilots learned the right technique in short order, but the airplane's reputation lurked around for quite a while.

Just nudge the nose over ever so little in the final part of the flare and it walks on...

the MD11 was my hardest plane to get a smooth landing on... especially when light.

Maybe it's just me; I'd definitely call that a firm touchdown, but it didn't *appear* as bad as maybe I was expecting.

My best landings were normally on wet runways. Anyone who's getting "glideslope" and "sink rate" callouts can't expect too much.

At least he is on the centerline.

Default just my take on it

Both were very easy to land nicely but the -100 and the -200 had VERY different landing characteristics (sp?) (sorry, can't spell for s&#$).

I think his point and I agree was that no sim lands like the plane... it's true.. I've flown the latest Level D's and Landings are completely mechanical and removed from reality...

What is it with these tri-motors! I also heard that the MD-11 is a cruel mistress (I hear many things). Somewhere between short final and touchdown there seems to be a tendency to develop a lot of PIO.
