Best external GPS for general aviation?
All I want to know is which of these is more accurate and reliable:
I obviously wont be shooting approaches with it, but I still want to have the most reliable and accurate one. So far, the only big difference I've noticed was that both the "Bad Elf" and "Dual" have an app and the "Garmin" doesn't. But what I care about, like I said, is reliability and accuracy. I fly in the DC SFRA and sometimes the planes I fly don't have GPS, this will really improve my situational awareness when navigating with the VOR.
Thanks guys!
- Dual XGPS150A
- Garmin GLO
- Bad Elf GPS Pro

Get one that's easy to use, so your head will be outside the cockpit not tied up in a single box. I know I got lazy and relied on it KLN90B..dating myself. when it fails because it will, Be able to go back to basics. Because that will save your hide.

I've used the Dual for GA ops before with ForeFlight. My only complaint is that it's picky about the order it's turned on in (the GPS unit needed to be on before the App was opened, otherwise it would sometimes not recognize it, or vice versa...I can't remember). The App that comes with the Dual is only for monitoring it, you can check satellite signal strength, battery life remaining, etc. Battery life was pretty good, more than sufficient for a few weeks of GA flying. I gave mine to a 135 freight guy who swears by it.
