Default Telex 850

Recently purchased this headset and gotta say, very disappointed. The comfort and weight is nice. I ordered it primarily to stop the clamping from my DC's. But I hear a ton of wind noise (CRJ 700) and everything sounds muffled. Had a terrible time understanding what the captain was saying and had to constantly mess with the volume knobs. Could barely hear myself. Can anyone else relate?

I had a set and promptly sold them. They were pretty disappointing. For a few dollars more, I got a uFlyMike setup. It has been way better than the 850's...but far from perfect.

I used an 850 for years on the CRJ just fine....easy to store and no batteries. But then I got Ufly for some prop flying and by contrast the 850 was annoyingly loud in the jet. Oh Well.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix the ear piece other than sending it back to Telex? I'm trying to avoid the cost of sending them back for repair.

The 850 is an almost 15 year old design and technology.

All the new products blow it away. The new DCs are on my shopping list.

Yeah I'm leaning toward maybe QC25's, but I was hoping to get by with a cheaper fix. I know it's about $180 to send back to Telex...for that price, I'll likely pass.

Lots and lots of electrical tape. Same thing happened to mine I taped it up and used it that way for about a year until I had the money to send it back to Telex (literally in pieces). What I got back was essentially a new headset. It was definitely worth it over buying a new one.
