Default Line Check Airman and Standards Check Airman?

After spending lots of time searching the interwebs, I can't seem to find anything that defines a Standards Check Airman (SCA). Everything I'm finding mainly pertains to Line Check Airmen (LCA).

So what's the difference between an SCA and LCA?

The reason why I ask is because some applications specifically have a check box for each role.

LCA is defined in the 8900. If SCA is in there I have never seen it. Perhaps it is a company specific designation?

Yeah I've found plenty of information on LCA's but hardly anything on SCA's. The only stuff I've been able to dig on SCA's seems to be company specific information which leads me to believe that an SCA might not be an FAA recognized position.

"Standards Check Airman" is most likely a company (airline) term/title.

Each Check Airman (now called "Check Pilot" in FAA Order 8900.1, Volume 3, Chapter 20) has been issued an LOA by the POI. The LOA states the privileges granted to the Check Pilot (i.e. Line Checks All Seats; 121.441 Proficiency Checks, etc).

Most airlines also have Aircrew Program Designees (APD) also. Those airmen must also have been a Check Pilot for at least a year or two and may issue type ratings and ATP Certificates upon completion of Initial 121.441 PC or AQP LOE+ Maneuvers Validation.

Could the term apply to AF Standards pilots (USAF LCA) aka evaluator pilots?

For job apps, the answer is easy. If you did not have a job title of "Standards Check Airman", don't check that box. Those who did have the title know who they are...if you have to ask, the answer is probably no.

Either that or it's whatever you want it to be, since it's not real.
