Default StratuX--Home Built ADS-B kit

Anyone have experience or recently completed the build and operations of this kit? Looks pretty simple on line kit... just looking for some folks who have used it.

thanks

There was an article about it in one of the recent EAA Sport Aviation mags. May be able to find it online. Basically they say it works as good as many of the other ones. Plus it will probably be able to support later updates. Such as AHRS. It's also supported with Foreflight.

I built one a few months ago... for $100, it works like a champ! You may not be able to get data until you're ~500AGL and in range of an ADS-B ground antenna, but then you will be able to pick up weather and NEXRAD overlays. Traffic is dependent on someone close by being ADS-B in/out as the Stratux (and any other portable receiver, the way I read it) is "leeching" the traffic data from someone else who has a properly formatted message that tells the ground station to broadcast it out.

I use it with ForeFlight. Seamless integration.

$98. Single band/GPS. Works with no issues on FltPlan Go. Built-in support and no fees for iOS version...includes all FAA enroute charts and IAPS geo-referenced.

I bought the components off Amazon before the "kit" was available, which meant having to order five or so items instead of one. Still, you have to spend the 10 minutes (if that) to put it together - far easier than some of the Frankenstein computer systems I've cobbled together in the past

I also bought a cigarette-lighter USB adaptor as we conveniently have an outlet in the 172 that this one is going into... don't have to worry about power, and the USB adaptor has three ports so the iPad can also get plugged in.

No kit. Pieced it together myself. Not an engineer but comfortable around electronics. Bought the Pi locally and splurged on a Pi case. Not considering a custom case yet, but I've learned that UPS Stores are installing 3D printers for public use. I'm guessing that FedEx Kinkos will be next.
