Well commuting is a way of life if you live in Florida. It’s going to be rough. I would go to the one that has the closest base to you.

Definitely true. TSA has the RDU base which has five flights a day between Tampa and there. It would probably be easier to get on those flights than trying to go to ATL for XJT. You should consider Silver they are right in Tampa which means no commute at all.

Except RDU is being shrunk and will probably close.

Those are being phased out for the 600 model ATR42 and some 72's. It depends on how much of your personal life you're willing to give up to commute to a jet. No I don't work there.

If republic rejected you there must have been a big reason because they have major staffing issues maybe not quite as bad now with the new LOA but I don't think they can afford to deny a lot of people. Envoy is going to be more competitive than republic. Now I was not aware that TSA is possibly closing RDU. Gojet also has a base there but everyone is going to tell you not to get near them or Mesa which opened ATL. If you drag yourself in to a long commute just to get a jet or specific company that will be something I think you will regret after a while. All that wasted time back and forth really becomes irritating. I know silver is turbo props but living in base is like a completely different job vs a commute.

ATL won’t be an option by the time you’re out of training. EWR, ORD, CLE, IAH are your XJT options, most likely in that order.

I wouldn't come to TSA solely for RDU. Unfortunately, RDU is shrinking and IMHO likely to close sometime in the near future. If you can hack IAD or DEN those would be the logical "bases of growth" for us in the near future. Currently it is IAD (which is a co-domicile with DCA, a point of contention currently). They can't staff the Washington base enough, I would plan on going there for a while if you come here.

That said, the main benefits I can tell you where you would come out ahead here at TSA would be: 4.25 min day pay credit, the current new-hire bonus, and quick upgrade. Other than that I really don't know what to tell you, but I do love flying the 145 and think it is an amazing airplane compared to the CRJ200 (of which I have limited knowledge and have never flown).

Cheers!
