Hiring bonus
 

I read that you can get a 60,000$ hiring bonus is that true and do you get it all of it at once if so?

The amount sounds right but it is not a lump sum. You get it in installments over the first couple of years. If you upgrade before you get all the bonus money you lose it because the bonus is considered a first officer bonus only.

According to what I was told, you get:

• $15,000 at the end of IOE (if you have a type rating you get an additional $10,000)
  
• $15,000 at the end of year one
  
• $10,000 at the end of year two (forfet if you upgrade to Captain)
  
• $10,000 at the end of year three (forfeit if you upgrade to Captain)

This looks correct but our bonus structures change frequently. Just make sure you check with a recruiter and get it in writing. Make sure you read the fine print.

If you leave before a certain time period are you required to pay the bonuses back?

Not at this time

Which my understanding is that one would likely be able to upgrade to Captain before all the of the payout when I was looking at TSA since I am CO based.

Correct. And last I heard any FO bonus money not paid by the time you upgrade is forfeited because it is an FO bonus, not a Captain bonus.

Is the $6000 for atp/ctp course prorated, or if you leave any time before a year you pay back the full 6,000$?

You're likely not going to see almost half of the bonuses. You'll get the IOE bonus and 1st year, but you'll upgrade before the 2nd/3rd year bonus. Really it's just a lie to inflate the bonus to make it look better, but they'll force you to upgrade before year 2 especially with how bad they need CAs right now.
