So... as the OP, I think I have a certain obligation to defend at least MY perspective on this.
You know me. You know that I just don't throw rocks at ALPA like some of the respondents. I started this thread (and the one on UAL) to try to get some answers to the RUMORS that were out there. What I didn't count on was a bunch of snowflake respondents that acted like I was questioning their very manhood and shooting their dog in the process. Both sides of this issue have acted like a bunch of 12 year old girls. It took way over 10 pages to get ANYONE that actually answered the question about the retirement. Everyone else acted like there was something nefarious or sour grapes or some other bull**** going on. I guess living in the dark about any of this is much better than even simply asking the question... at least according to the responses it received.
Like your first one, on the United Forum:

Rather than give a direct answer, you chose to stir the pot.

An honest person, not intending to stir up trouble or smear with innuendo, would have started by stating, "I heard that Joe DePete, our new ALPA President, retired from FedEx. What do you UAL guys think about that?"
You didn't get an answer in 2 minutes, so you brought the topic here to the DELTA Forum.
02-01-2019, 12:19 PMWere you still looking for the answer to what the UAL guys thought about it? Not likely.
So, back the UNITED thread, when nobody seemed to know what you were alluding to with your vague posts, you slammed them for not knowing.

Yep. It sounds like you are uninformed but would rather gather information from an anonymous website than from the horse's mouth. I really don't care whether or not you report back.
The thing is that I have discovered that this is remaining very quiet at this point in time.
Anyway, back to the DELTA Forum, after a handful of puzzled responses, you finally spit out your first direct question:
02-01-2019, 02:19 PM
What rumors, and what questions did you ask? None. The only question you asked is what do some people (UAL reps) think, and would you (reader of Delta forum) be happy? Those questions won't elicit answers to rumors, but your admonition to "really look into" the "other issues" certainly helped smear and taint if not propagate new rumors.
So, back to the UNITED Forum. You still haven't spit out a direct question, and the posters are still wondering what you're talking about, so you played the "You are ignorant" card:

Maybe it became more anonymous before your next, quite detailed post:

I don't know anything about that. I don't GAS about National politics as I am not in any way involved. However, I am just a little miffed that 1) He 'retired" right after taking the job. 2) He deferred his FDX retirement (allegedly) so that he will be able to double dip at the ALPA fund.
Legal? Yeah probably. But the optics aren't good.
I have no agenda against the man because he came from somewhere other than Delta. I couldn't tell you where ANY of the national officers are from. I do not care. And I just heard about this today. If you are good with this kind of thing, then please scroll on. I think it is pretty low if true though.
And the reason that I wanted people to call their reps was not to be all 'cloak and dagger', but to find other confirmation than internet rumors. Sorry to have brought it up. I guess it's all good.
The most generous (and politically correct) way to describe your claim of innocence here is disingenuous. Guess what. We're not that stupid.

What Tony said.
An appropriate and leveled thread would have been: "Hey guys. Did you hear the ALPA President retired 1 day into his term from FDX? What do you think about that?"
Instead, you thought you were throwing a match into a room full of Hydrogen. And when it didn't light, because most people don't care that he retired, you got angry and lashed out. You tried filling the room with hydrogen and when the angry mob still didn't explode, you turned on everyone and insulted them for not thinking like you. Classy.

His reply:
... followed by calling everyone uninformed and thin-skinned.
Yeah.
Sure.
And we're super-super-stupid, too, if we believe that.

So, how did your Rep vote on the BOD Resolution establishing DePete's compensation, including retirement?
[HINT: Don't ask on an anonymous webboard. Ask your rep.]

Ian Fleming has been around for awhile. This dude is the king of flamebait and then posing innocence or at least righteous indignation. Reference the entire TA1 and TA2 discussions. He will not answe your questions, he will attack. Pretty standard in today’s world I guess
