Alpa bod
Hello all,
As you may know, the 2022 ALPA BOD starts Monday. Many carriers' MEC are already in LAS holding meetings. This is the place for all election discussions. The current overview is this. DAL is standing Ambrosi for President. He has a large following. The UAL MEC is backing TUMI TA author, Todd Insler. Many of us at UAL suggest anyone but Todd. That said, the UAL MEC nearly supported Todd (by 22 roll-call votes) in their latest straw poll, but there will be more polls to come throughout the weekend. That doesn't bode well for the boys in Blue. Today, third candidate, UAL CA John Barton pulled out of the race and tossed his support to Ambrosi. We are waiting to see if a last minute spoiler comes forward. At the same time, with the hope of the top job slipping through the hands of UAL, look for a move straight out of the old CAL playbook. They may create a crisis, cast aside Todd and draft a replacement to save the day. Rest assured, any last minute play by UAL will be with the blessing of the Toddlers. The only UAL candidate who is viable is the one who vows not to include Insler anywhere in his administration, and that won't happen. Meanwhile, a crafty crew determined to save the union have some great websites you can share with your Reps.
toddinsler.org & savealpa.org
The content of these will be updated throughout the weekend, right up to the vote.
At the same time, if you find yourself in LAS on Tuesday, October 18 1600-1800, we will be picketing our union (first time ever) in front of Bally's on the Flamingo Road side. The message is taking back our union. We invite all issues and all work groups, including family and friends. So, if you find yourself on a layover, are based there, or want to send a message that you are done with crony-politics, please join us.
The head of the Pilot's Union speaks before Congress for all in the industry. After you see some of Todd's quotes and actions from the aforementioned websites, we hope you will agree. He is not fit to represent our profession.
