Seems they went down the path of negotiations but it didnt work. So they imposed a contract. Similar to an airline managment locking out workers when released to self help.

So again what are the unfair labor practices????
I think it may be a reference to the NRLB General Council's concurrence that ALPA negotiated in bad faith with the unit 1 employees before making the "best, final, last" offer.

Check me on this, the NRLB makes the recommendation and ALPA can provide their arguments to the complaint.

his action taken by the NLRB is the first step in processing the UALPAPAE, Unit
1 unfair labor practices charge, which was filed against ALPA management last
March. ALPA is legally required to respond to the NLRB`s complaint by mid July.
A hearing is scheduled for September.

Gaining the AA pilots would have also eliminated a competing union and the ideal that "the largest group of airline pilots (at that time) can do fine representing themselves."

Someone said it best above:

On a side note, if the TWA pilots lawsuit makes it to a trial you can bet it's going to cost the membership at the very least, and at the very most, bankrupt the union...unless ALPA decides to talk.

Called the Clerk of the Federal Courthouse in Camden, NJ who indicated the trial starts on June 8th at 0830. I plan to be there to watch the ALPA lawyers try to defend against their actions. I am sure it will be entertaining, especially when they try to explain missing computers and files - oops !!!
