TonyC,

The Ex-Im Bank subsidizes US union workers like those at GE, Boeing, Caterpiller, it just so happens that airlines take advantage of it.

BTW, yes, the bank should go away as corporate cronyism.

How about the bank give the same great financing deals they give to foreign airlines to US carriers?

Backlash problem solved.

Yup. That's all that needs to be done. Give the US airlines the same rates. The airplanes are proven. What other 2 engine airplane does what the 777-300ER does? Boeing won't have problems selling them if the foreign carriers subsidies are yanked.

googles,

It was setup to subsidize exports, not US businesses! Pay attention, by the way, FDR sponsored it, unions love it, just not ALPA.

I'm paying attention. I understand the premise. And I understand its grotesque corruption when it subsidizes the likes of Emirates. If it were limited to subsidizing purchases from mom-and-pop manufacturers in the US to impoverished business in Africa, I'd be fine with it. But subsidizing Boeing purchases from state-owned behemoths? GMAFB.

Yes, and we all know Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar are in dire need of subsidies. Clearly they wouldn't buy nor be able to afford B777s or B787s without loans for the Ex-Im bank. Let's be real here.

googles/johnso29,

Clearly, you are naive about how Big Government, Bis Business and Big Labor work together to steal from taxpayers. There is no way in he!! those 3 are going to let mom 'n pop businesses benefit from Uncle Sam when they have the money to hire lobbyists to get the government hand-outs. GMAFB. The UAW and the IAM are waaaay bigger in the bucks and influence department than ALPA; DL can't out-weigh Boeing, either

No naivity at all. I understand we live in a corrupt corporate oligarchy. Laws are written by corporations for corporations. I have no illusions that the bank will continue to exist and continue to oprate business as usual, despite what we argue on this little corner of the internet.

But they can't stop us from ranting ... Yet.
