As an FO I had to deal with more than my fair share of these d-bags and I think I held forth more than the requisite amount of disdain during that time. I was relieved never to have to share a cockpit with them for several years after I upgraded. Then I went and bid the right seat of a widebody in a traditionally L-UAL base and having been told repeatedly how differently L-UAL treated their scabs, I really expected displays of contempt on a whole new level. Frankly it's been exactly as I've experienced previously. Great deference in the cockpit and everyone heads down to the bar with captain scabby, as I lock myself in my room. Disappointing...

No need for conflict in the cockpit ... SOP, business like attitude, and one word answers have worked for me.

If it's someone like V@()ghn who is eager to entertain you for hours adnausium, just look directly at him and say 'I am not interested in any of your chit' ... He is well trained and promptly puts his stack of papers away. It works.

A few years ago several crews were in the bar at the FRA Marriott deciding where to eat ... A friend pointed out to me that one of the participants was the #1 777 F/O in Dulles ... So I asked the question to the group isn't he a SCAB? Two of us ate somewhere else. It only takes a little backbone to avoid those with none.

The #1 777 F/O in Dulles referred to above is no longer in that seat
