The contract states you will not be given anything below economy plus. So according to LOA 52 you can take a later flight with a contractually compliant seat.

Or accept the seat and the voucher for a future FC seat.

They shouldn't IDB passengers, but they still should be soliciting volunteers, no? Someone should bite, with the new leeway to offer more money.

Real simple. Don’t get on the plane and let them figure it out.

exactly... read the newly signed LOA 52... covers what happens (pay wise) if you don't accept the E seat (which you never should IMO) and they deny you boarding (due to Dr. Dao Policy). Personally they can push me to a later flight and pay me...

Let's assume you're going home, and take the seat. How does the first class voucher thing work?

They will offer a stupid sum of money for volunteers to get you in a compliant seat or you should take the next flight with a compliant seat. My experience was EWR - YYZ on an oversold 50 seater and the offer was enough for both of the two crew members to buy a 5 yr old Honda Civic and drive canonball run style. The next flight was also oversold. A limo one way was 2000.00, a rental car was $300, and they spent 5 times the limo buying two seats and created a whole heap of drama that does not look good in a crowded boarding area. The people managing these situations aren't good decision makers and they are afraid to think outside the box.

BTW the FC, 3 hour rule only applies if you are deadheading to fly not just DH to a layover or home. And it is written that you get FC if it is available at the time of booking. So good luck with that.

Do not board on an Econ ticket.. Period, plain and simple. No drama, no rashness needed, just politely wait until the airplane leaves then call the Crew desk so they can make new plans. The gate agents know the deal but like to play it off to see if you’ll board without them having to fix it. Don’t do it.

That's not they taught us in LEAP. We are leaders and problem solvers.

Often, that same airplane will come back for you after you make a phone call. Problem solved. (That was before the good Dr. however).
