I’m a new line holder and didn’t see in the UPA but it looks like IAH may be short of reserves in my category in a few days and I’m DCA based. Can I VSRM or get add pay for out of base? Thanks for any help.

Nope, tried that same move before.

You cannot SRM our of base. Scheduling may rebuild a Houston pairing for DCA if they can’t cover it, but you’d be bypassing the SRM seniority in IAH otherwise

If there's a trip out of IAH that you like, you can do an out of base pickup but no premium pay. You will need to call the crew desk at 1300 LBT day prior. You're responsible for getting to/from the base.

From the contract:
20-K-4-c-(3) An in-Base Lineholder may pick up an available Trip at any time prior to
fifteen (15) hours before the report time of the Trip. An out-of-Base Lineholder or an I/E
may pick up an available Trip after 1300 on the day prior to the Trip’s report time and
prior to fifteen (15) hours before the report time of the Trip.

This would be another great thing to work on for the new CBA. Allow out of base pick up to occur some 3-4 days out in advanced vs the afternoon prior. Wouldn’t this benefit not only the pilot group but also the company? I think SWA guys are grabbing out of base trips 4 days prior.

Picked up out of base premium pay before. Have to wait till 1300 LBT the day before. Make sure they confirm premium pay (leave the trip as is, don’t rebuild it).

Allowing out of base pickup several days in advance would have serious consequences to trip treading, SRM, Overtime, and PPU. The in base pilots need access to those trips until the last minute.

The only segment of the pilot group it would help would be the commuters.

Interesting. I didn't know they'd give premium pay for that.

Not only can you pick up PPU trips out of base (after 1300 LBT) you can also SRM about of base. Call crew desk and ask them to put you on the list, explain that you’re based elsewhere. I’ll caveat this with, I haven’t dont it in a while so that may have changed. The catch is you’ll be last to get called behind all pilots in base on the list (so likely never). The trips will be so short notice that unless you’re already there you prob won’t be able to do it anyway.
