These 175s are not due until 2019. IF the company gets scope relief then they are good if they don’t then the order will be re evaluated. I’m sure there is a no scope relief contingency in the contract.

Bought in anticipation of a NSNB order that relaxes scope?

Prior to Kirby UAL was shrinking and considering dehubbing IAD, DEN and/or LAX. We're playing with house money. We just need to say no on scope relief because everything else Kirby is doing bodes well for United and pilots.

Exactly right. Would you rather have Smisek? We were very close to closing LAX, DEN and IAD as hubs before Oscar & Kirby arrived. Granted, I to would like to see more mainline
orders but we are in a slow growth mode.

This isn’t the order that’s been speculated between the A330 NEO or the 787 to replace the 767’s. In May there were news reports that stated Airbus was out of the running on the A330 NEO, and United was going to buy 787’s to replace 767’s like AA, but recently there was a flight Global article stating we are in negotiations with Airbus and Boeing for 767 replacements and possibly A321 NEO’s for 757 replacements.

My guess Kirby’s playing hard ball playing Boeing and Airbus off each other.

This article came out last week.

Then why not order the EMB-170? That's a 70 seat airplane.

The last E170 came off the production line in 2015.

Because you can put a first class section on a 175 and have way more capability to boot.

We will see. I personally do not trust Kirby until these airplanes show up. A 70 seat EMB-175 makes no financial sense, from a CASM standpoint. Like I said, it barely makes sense at 76 seats. The sweet spot for the 175 is between 80-90 seats. 70 seats in a 175 will be a very roomy cabin.

So we buy them and they fly routes per United's directive. Express gets priority on those jets. Ok

6 months ago DL about 175s with 70 seats Skywest will be flying them. It’s a think man not just a Kirby thing in fact it is called the 175SC.
