MIGS? Half wingers aren’t even allowed to file OJI or sexual harassment complaints. It is customary to charge them money for a jumpseat as well ($100)

Probationary pilots are considered Apprentice Members.

Of course probationary pilots have access to ALPA resources but there are a few exceptions. Most notable for the first year is the lack of direct representation in a displinary setting.

But, probationary pilots bid the same schedules scrubbed the SSC, stay at the same hotels approved by the hotel committee, work under the same CBA, can file PDR reports, can attend LEC meetings, etc.

As noted, ProStan isn’t representation and the relationship from one CPO to the next can be anything but standard.

That's a great question. I'm a member in good standing at my ALPA regional. If hired at UAL would I lose that protection? Would I have to pay another initiation fee? I would think not as I am already a dues paying member of the association but this is a bizzaro world we work in, not much rooted in reality at all so to be honest I wouldn't be surprised.

You’d be an apprentice member at United and no longer represented by the MEC/LEC at your old airline.

I think the fee is $25 bucks and you won’t pay any dues that year. I’m thinking you’d make that 25 bucks back pretty quick! :)

Technically, you are correct. They are not full members, and do not receive representation.

However, local LEC will represent in disciplinary matters. All the probationary pilot has to do is ask. The mentor program helps a lot with that.

At least in SFO, no one wants to deal with Larry and his issues.

It's interesting that pilots hired by a company don't respect the hiring practices of said company.:D

Once upon a time those pilots hired by the company were hired by fellow pilots.

Auto Mechanics interview and hire auto mechanics.
Doctors interview and hire doctors.
CPA's hire CPA's
Attorneys hire attorneys.

I think we do it like McDonalds does it.

Pilots hiring pilots led to a massive federal discrimination lawsuit. Pilots still have the final say and are a large part of the process.
