Default Commuting to DCA as a 737 or 320 FO line hold

Looking at my options; currently a EWR 756 reserve FO and looking at jumping off for a line. I am looking at EWR 320 and I commute from the ATL.
I am wondering what life is like on the 737 or 320 in the DC area. Thanks in advance for any input.

Just go into PBS and check out the bid awards for those 2 categories. See what your seniority will get you in DCA. If you can hold out to be a line holder on the 756, I doubt you will find much better commutability. My 2¢

I just flew with a pilot living in ATL... the commute to IAD sucks from ATL. I'd check the commute options out of ATL... think the flights to EWR are much better than IAD.

Don’t forget you’ve got to cover 3 fairly spread out airports in DCA on the 737/320. Not all trips are commutable to boot. Doable but makes crashpad options more difficult. Most guys hotel it.

OTOH, if you can hold a line on the DCA756, the flying, while not as varied as EWR, is more stable. Mostly 3 day Europe trips that are commutable on both ends.

I commute to dca 320 fo, bout halfway up the list. It’s been good. I haven’t looked at ewr in a while, but Dulles has historically had more commutable trips than ewr. Granted you’d be WAY more senior if you flew bus out of ewr and that would no doubt affect your commutability and vacation bidding. One big advantage of IAD is the late bank to get home. There’s a 22:15 departure to most spots, even on a Sunday. Arrivals into IAD aren't quite as early as ewr, but as a commuter, I’ll use DCA as a backup for IAD. Public transit takes 1:20 to get from one to the other and I can Uber it in 40 mins for $37-$60 in a pinch. It’s easier for me to get to DCA and BWI than IAD, cause Delta keeps adding domestic capacity to the two. Given all that, I bid 3 and 4 day trips with weekends off, and am working Sunday-Wednesday this month, all commutable. I’d do better on the guppy, plus I’d improve my tan, but I just love Cedar Rapids overnights too much. I’ve looked at 756 in ewr, but I’d be flying weekends and staying up all night for not much more $. Overall, the bus is great. It’ll be better if they keep back filling. Oh, and if your senior to me, disregard this post.
