It's good for two reasons. One the work you did as an enlisted man counts towards a degree. You are enrolled in the CCAF. Make sure you get that degree. It's practically free. In addition, take all that credit and your transcript to a 4 year degree.

Second, employers like honorable service and a good track record. If you were enlisted and did well, all employers will feel that time is good time to have. It demonstrated predictability and stability in behavior and job performance.

Get that degree!

It would be fine with me if the Captains did all of our interviewing. Give them a quickie "HR class" and put them to the task.

The process, just to get into the room needs to be cleaned up.

That would be a true statement from many different sides depending on what the center is...


And I agree that 4 years enlisted with all else being equal should count as an equivalent to the 4 year degree requirement.

I believe you meant to encourage the OP, not me. I work here, have a 4 year degree from a recognized university and agree with the company that a bachelors degree should be required for an interview. Enlisted time should be recognized but not in place of a degree

You have got to be kidding. That is absurd. Military service can be a tremendous leadership experience. Or not. It does not, in any way, shape or form, equate to a 4-year degree.

Absurd? Not equate? I will strongly disagree with you. You’re saying a service member who served in a war zone had responsibility for lives, served as a medic/corpsman, squad leader, crew chief, etc. doesn’t equate? For a 39 year veteran I question your value of military commitment.

Comimg from a military guy with 2000 121 hours, GET A DEGREE. Worst case, when the economy fails, you have something to fall back on. United isn’t callling me and I’ve (presumably) hit all the wickets. When the walls come falling down, you’ll have a backup plan. I’m at a ULCC and trying to get to a legacy. Maybe they’ll call, maybe they won’t. I’ve got something to fall back on. You can’t bank on the alleged pilot shortage.

Who the hell are you to question my commitment and my service? I have the utmost respect for the enlisted guys and gals I served with. However, a four-year enlistment does not equate to a college degree. There is a huge difference between training and education, my friend. Lots of the former does not equal the latter.

I had 12 years enlisted service in the aviation field, but didn’t finish college until much later. Although enlisted experience is great, there is no comparison between that and four years of college. I clung to the same idea that other experience should be considered until I finally went back to school. Shortly after I finished I was hired by a major.

I don’t regret finishing school, but I do regret I didn’t finish sooner.

PS. Don’t get a degree from an online diploma mill, get a degree from a reputable university with a quality online program.
