The protections your seek are already built into the system. The scenario you are describing is not possible unless you waived days off. Call the pbs hotline and have them explain your bid results. Our system has a tough learning curve that typically involves a hard lesson around the holidays.

The simple explanation: either one knows a lot less about PBS than they think they do or they're junior and tried getting a line by waiving some contractual rights. I only have 10 days of work in a row this year; I think I had something like 15 days in a row in a previous year over the holidays. I understand why that happens and don't need to start a new thread over the subject. YMMV. On the bright side, it cuts down on the need to commute during the busiest time of the year. :D |

The contract requires 30 hours off in base per rolling 168 hours unless you waive it then PBS can use a 30-hour layover

WAIVES REVISITED ... Where this has the least desirable impact is when bidders use waives in their final submitted bid group and they enter completion mode. Waives are not stripped out during completion mode, and if a bidder makes it to completion mode four due to not bidding deep enough, they are subject to an award that not only includes trips they preferred not to fly, but which uses the waives to decrease line quality even further. So, if you are going to use a "waive" in your bidding strategy, make sure you don't keep the waive in the last one!!!! |
