Default PBS min days between blocks

Curious if any of the other airlines have language that prevents PBS from building 8-12 day work blocks. If guys want to work that long more power to them, but forcing us into 8-12 days on the road is a little excessive. Seems like 6 days on, with two between work blocks would be a bit more reasonable unless you waive it. The other answer might be to not give out any December vacations.... I’m guessing EWR will have a few sick calls rolling in.

as a long distance commuter, forcing me to sit in a crashed and lose 2 days at home sounds way worse.

How would that force you to do anything?????, you could wave days off between work blocks, my point is you shouldn’t be FORCED to work 12 days in a row......

The contract requires 30 hours off in base per rolling 168 hours unless you waive it then PBS can use a 30-hour layover

I use set commands for this: Set max length of work blocks = 4. Set min days between work blocks >= 3. I never do back to back trips (I only bid 3 & 4 day trips) and always have off at least 3 days between trips. But I’m also 10% in base, so that helps.

You think? PBS mantra is to be very careful using SET commands...if your seniority can't support it they're a quick ticket to completion mode.

Well, start with the sets and loosen them / delete them as your bids progress. Don’t ask....don’t get.

Lol I can use any set commands, avoids awards etc it will just deny me and go to completion mode. The issue is in December guys are getting 12 or more days in a row at work, I understand I have to work a holiday, but working Dec 19-30 is a bit much. Just wondering what other carriers do or if our union is working on it.

Call your scheduling committee. Write a PDR, better to get your info from the source. Even If you don’t get the answer you want.
