I say go to the legacy as it gives you more options than anyone else. You can only make so much lemonade from these part 121 lemons, but at least UA has so many different flavors offered you can definitely find one that pleases your pallete for sure.

Are you living within driving distance or commuting it? I’m 3.7 years and couldn’t stomach a commute to reserve
on the 777 or NB captain. Hope either way you have a great time and I’ll look forward to joining you when I’m above that G line!

You won’t make 200 plus no where third year .not at a legacy for sure maybe fedex or ups. if you were in the 30s then a legacy would offer more in the long run but given you have 8 years Spirit is one hell of a deal if they take you. Regarding training AQP in the spring so it’s not that bad. But hey whatever floats your boat sir and makes you happy. Whatever you do work on your apps as soon as you’re off training. You never know Military guys make 50% of all legacy hiring. Best wishes! Happy Holidays

Third year 737 FO here, and made over 200K. Worked hard in the summer and took lots of time off the last 3 months of the year.

That’s excellent. Congrats!

Happy Holidays to you!

You are asking the right questions!

Also consider you could hold Widebody F/O here at UAL pretty quick and its a pretty nice lifestyle....and you can make as much or more than a junior narrow body Capt'n. 220K and 16 days off with great layovers is nothing to sneeze at. Just my .02! :D

No sneezes here - totally agree!

I understand the part about where you want to live, but I think you may need to do some homework with where Spirit is compared to the legacies. One the A320 we make less per hrs. I've been here 4 years and will bring in 225K this year (on reserve 10 out of the 12 months and only giving up 8 days off to pick something up) and sitting at 50% on the seniority in the company. We have 2nd year FO doing about 100K (I know it's not as much as UAL) but it's still a good income. Personally i would look at the ULCC before considering the regionals, if you are concern about pay and QOL.

Thanks, more info is good.

I am already a new hire at SkyWest and start initial training this Friday. I’m researching options for the longer term starting later this summer.

No disrespect meant at all toward Spirit or Frontier. Glad to hear it’s a solid-paying option.

Appreciate all the input!
