All that said, I can't emphasize enough that the long term planning committee meets twice a day. We've all seen this movie before.

For those of us new to the game...what does this mean? Not all of us have seen this movie...

It’s the airline business. “Plans” can change instantly in reaction to external (and internal) events.

Examples within the last 20 years, with some occurring more than once:
Economic recession

Market crash

Oil price increase

Terrorist attacks

Merger

Health concerns (example: swine flu)
I'm not saying any of these will happen in the near term, but the last 75 years of airline history is one big example of constant changes to "plans."

If, for instance, Iran would shoot down a US drone in international water, attack shipping lanes, and oil prices spike...that could lead to plans changing

Yes, for instance.

I doubt it, and in a good way.

There are now 3 classes for August and the word at TK this week is to expect that operational tempo until next summer. They are gonna operate the place at 100% capacity so hiring will be much stronger than this spring/summer.

There are 45 new Boeings coming in 2020 (and an unknown number of used sheet busses). Combine that with retirements and it's really the perfect storm. :)

Where did you hear 3 classes for August? Last I heard there were only 2?

Yes, the July 30th class is technically in July for the rest of the planet, but it's in the August "calendar month" at UAL.

(FWIW, prior to the recent update there was only one class in July.)

That’s a long wait. I interviewed on a Tuesday, flew home that night. Next morning I was mowing the lawn and the phone rang. It was United, offering me a job and a class date in about a month.

Southwest, on the other hand, made me wait almost a month for my rejection letter.
