Default Reserve aggressive pickup out of base?

i was activated to a new domicile (widebody reserve), but I’m no where near ready to move. Is there a way to pick up trips on reserve out of domicile so I don’t have commute across the country on reserve as much? I’m guessing you can’t. Any tips on how I should proceed if my goal is to stay here a few more months?

Not sure about global reserve, but I know 100% that domestic reserve, you CANNOT APU OUT OF BASE.

- hopefully that’s different for you and definitely something that changes next contract

Unfortunately, no APU out of base for reserves. Best of luck with the commute.

Well, that's not quite true. Officially you can, but it's virtually never done. It is probably crew desk policy to not do it, and there is no way to do it via computer. You have to call. And, only a few crew desk will even consider it, and only if they are short and desperate. So, it can be done, but rarely. One of those things they do to man the operation, but only if it is in their interest.

Let me rephrase...
If a baseball player goes 0/3 then he goes 0.000 average
Or another way to say it is, 100% failure rate.

I’ve gone 0/3 on apu Reserve pick ups out of base and the each time they’ve put me on hold and then scheduling says “ reserve pilots CAN’T PICK UP OUT OF DOMICILE” ....

- caveat being during the summertime when we’ll pay 100% ppu for anyone willing to help us...

But for now, I stand by my first post. 110% chance of being ( under normal conditions) UNABLE to apu out of domicile out of base on domestic Reserve!

YMMV, but I doubt you’ve walked a mile in my shoes....

The reason they don’t allow reserves to APU out of domicile is to force a 20H6 with a paid FC DH round trip and the accompanying economic penalty the company has to face due to their poor crew planning. This encourages realistic staffing and lets you transfer into that base faster.

I see the logic in this, but I feel that penalty and any theoretical staffing changes as a result are insignificant when compared to the QOL benefits of letting pilots pick up and/or avoid flying.
