Vacancy 19-07V

Small vacancy, but a vacancy is better than no vacancy.
  • 737 CA - 1 (DEN)
  • A-320 CA - 25 (EWR, SFO)
  • 777 FO - 10 (EWR)
  • 787 FO - 13 (EWR, DEN)
  • 756 FO - 10 (DEN)
  • 737 FO - 90 (CLE, EWR, SFO, DCA, DEN, IAH, ORD)
  • A-320 FO - 65 (EWR, DCA, SFO, DEN)

No movement at ORD...standard

Why are there more CAs in any given narrow body category than the respective FO category? I understand the the more FOs on wide body than CAs due to augmentation.

A current example of this is SFO756CA/FO. 86 SFO756CAs and 68 SFO756FOs. Does that mean super chill schedules than for that fat category of SFO756CA?

One reasons is LOAs and vacation. Almost half the NB CA get 42 days/yr vacation. As we age we are more likely to have issues requiring time off. Getting old sucks in that regard lol.

I only see considerable imbalances in EWR and SFO 737/320. Coincidentally that is where most new hires end up going. Might not be that out of whack once all the new hires are online for summer.

5 737 FO vacancies in “Lil ORD” aka CLE is pretty significant

A greater than 5% increase is very significant, but CLE is nothing like ORD.

Take that however you choose to.

Not good, not bad. Just not “Lil” ORD.

Did we skip over “Vacancy 19-06” for some reason like the 13th floor of building?

The number corresponds to the year-month that the bid is effective. So, since this bid is effective the first day of the July bid month (6-30) it is an -07 bid.

The last bid was effective in May, so it was an -05 bid.

Since there was so much time between this bid and the last one, we skipped right over any option to have a bid effective in June
