I think that you are dangerously oversimplifying the elements that constitute slander. when someone "mentions" another professional's name, the first thing that is analyzed is whether the issue is private person, public issue, public person private issue, private/private, public/public. Each one of those scenarios provide a different outcome. The only way to clearly maintain one's safety, is to NOT mention another person's name in a fashion that might undermine that person's professional reputation.

Gentlemen, times are good at the airlines now. An idle mind is the Devil's workshop. This war is not a war, but I do suspect that there will be casualties.

There has been no disruption to the United System integrity and management, at this point, does not deem it prudent to intervene.Smart money says stay out of this one and let the Union and sapa hash it out. I've been a professional Pilot for more than half my life, and served in some sort of leadership role for most of that. I know what a real war looks like, and this is not a real war.

Stay safe and good hunting.

Incorrect.

They (SKW) are denying United Pilots that are commuting on Delta and Alaska flights.

I get that, but simply listing a name and a fact isn’t slander. Same if you had a data base that showed that a person has been registered to vote with a particular party. It is a simple statement of fact. If you took that simple statement and used it to falsely suggest that since that person is on the list he would be more likely to club baby seals, then you’d be right.

I don’t personally plan on hunting anyone. I hope that all of this is over for my next commute. If ALPA still wants PDR’s, I’d love to tell who ever is compiling this data how professional and accommodating the crew was.

This. No different than publicly listing names that awarded the jumpseat.

Listing your name after denying a jumpseat isn’t libelous, it’s a factually correct occurrence. Good luck.

How about if you deny me the opportunity to get to work, an an airplane with MY companies name on the side (not yours) I sue you for lost pay?

THE SKYWEST PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED.

I would like to start listing their names. Is the forum ok with that?

Thank God there are thousands of pilots at United and just a few like you with your attitude.

Uh, NO.

Your UNION has told you what to do (PDR) and public allegations are not part of the current plan.

Are you for real? Go do a web search for “slander”....you might learn something. Oh yeah....do a web search for “frivolous law suit” at the same time because you’d probably be paying for defenses legal expenses as well. OMG.
