Was that TIC? I missed the smiley. I got stuck for two full days in Cedar Rapids once. Years later I got stuck for two days in Zurich. Zurich was the clear winner.

So, we should only do 30hr layovers in places that YOU think are cool? Or are you advocating putting RJ's back on that? I can't tell.

Pilots desire that. Nobody wants to be trapped in a European country.

Having been a corporate pilot in the “oil patch” I could show you some interesting things to do in the Midland/Odessa area. ;)

You must be very junior then if all
you did was red eyes. I haven’t flown a red eye in the last year or two unless I purposely pick up a one leg dead head back to base. 5 years on property for reference. And if you’re my seniority or higher then your bidding is the only thing to blame if you couldn’t avoid all nighters.

I did it for my first 3 years, and I was on reserve the whole time. Now, in LAX I would be 35ish percent and I have no idea what quality of life qould be like on it at that seniority now. But I can tell you I am a MUCH happier person on the 737 now. 2-3 day trips, no red eyes. And I like to fly planes, so the up and down is what I prefer.

After years of been there done that the 8-9 minute drive to the Kirkwood in CID isn’t so bad. Nice hotel, great restaurant with a big discount. KCM available heading back to the airplane. Easy in, easy out. You can have the 5 PM nightmare from EWR to Manhattan.

Does CID have KCM? I’m going there on Friday, that would be sweet.
