Contract my friend...it’s saved many of us and that’s what it’s for!
Unless, of course you have debt out the wazzooo(UND - ERAU - etc) and you can’t afford to miss a trip/assignment....as that seems to be the case with folks I’ve run into recently....

You do know we have a “commuter clause” that would have gotten you off the hook - no worries, since you made an honest attempt at 2 tries?

My goodness you guys. Yes, I am familiar with the contract and the commuter clause. As I mentioned above, I wanted to fly because I was trying to get consolidated and wanted to get better at the job. It was supposed to simply be an anecdote about how tough the PHX-LAX commute is.

From: in a Big Box that moves back, forth, up, down and makes cool sounds
I had a 1800 short call or field standby (don’t remember which) and by looking at the schedule was pretty sure I was going to be assigned a trip. I wasn’t consolidated yet and I wanted to fly as much as possible as I frankly wasn’t thrilled with my performance thus far. So I drove.
