that's Great! the 737-9 MAX airplane can then get on the move to Hawaii and Transcon until the 797 is ready. I would bet United retires a bunch of 757's it\f the -9Max is as good as Boeing claims. Or as good as United Hopes they are. But? Since UAL has the A321's on order? We'll now see the 737 and A321 side by side to see for ourselves.

At this point they really don’t have much of a choice but to kick the can down the road. Even if all regulators came to an agreement and approved the plane in the next couple of weeks, we couldn’t be ready for the heavy summer season. Too much has to happen after the ban is lifted. They have to install and test the fix, develop pilot training, and most importantly, train the pilots for the new procedures that they come up with. That isn’t going to happen before summer, and we’ll all be too busy with peak season to deal with it until the fall.

The max is starting to fly again with boeing test pilots. I saw one in MCI last week. I think a mid summer blessing from the FAA is possible. I don't think we want to be the first ones flying them with the media being hyper focused on whatever we do as a negative. American has more of them and is in a worse financial spot... lets let them be the ambitious ones here and take the heat. We can hopefully slip in a silent #2 for getting them flying. I can see Sept being a reasonable timeframe.
