It’s a massive sellers market in Doylestown. Homes are going for asking price and usually considerably above that. My realtor friend says she’s getting 10 bids in the first couple days so sellers can be picky. A good friend sold his house in November for $70k over asking price and had 20 offers. Homes are pricey by most standards. I live in the township just outside the borough and it’s a 10 minute walk to town and 5 minutes to the train station. 1+20 to EWR. Our youngest is at CB West and they have a lacrosse team. All 3 Central Bucks schools are top notch as are the elementary schools. Homes close to downtown are just about impossible to find. That’s said, I posted a realtor friend’s contact info on your page. Good luck. PM if you come to town. We have a decent number of pilots in town.

I live down the road in Upper Moreland, 15 minutes to Doylestown. The cost of homes in Doylestown is a joke. We love it, but will never move there. For a long time we planned on one day buying near Kids Castle, but it’s laughable the cost vs what you get. We don’t love UM, and will probably end up somewhere else, but not sure where yet. Even here, our house value has skyrocketed, we bought in 2015 and are at 33% increase in value. It’s ridiculous.

I just can’t pay $700k for a house in PA... plus property tax.

To each their own. IMO it’s expensive for a reason. It’s a great place to be and we can walk everywhere. We absolutely love living in Doylestown. Prior military and have lived in 14 places in my life and this is by far our favorite.

You don’t really have to spend $700k here but you do have to spend $450k and that will get you a fixer upper. Our home value has gone up 20% in the 2 years since we moved here. To get a home anything like in The Woodlands (for example) you’re going to spend at least twice as much.

Thank you everyone for the responses and insight into the local area. As usual, I’m late to the real estate party. We were going to relocate last summer when the kids finished school but with a potential furlough, that would have been an absurd move. Hilltopper, I’ll catch up with you SEPCOR.

I’d throw Newtown into the mix. Similar to Doylestown. Also some decent places (I’m told) in the Lehigh Valley that’ll be more reasonably priced than Central Bucks.

I grew up in Doylestown and went to school in Buckingham and then Newtown. Newtown would be prime for EWR... also take a look at Carversville, New Hope and Buckingham- all really beautiful, picturesque areas to consider...

These are all great places too. New Hope is more expensive than Doylestown but very nice. One of the best school districts in the state. It does get very crowded with tourists on nice days. Carversville is nice. Anything along the Delaware River is quite scenic and mostly rural....Point Pleasant, Lumberville, Etc. I’m unfamiliar with Newtown. Northwest of here I know some pilots who live in Quakertown who seem to like it. Buckingham is really nice too but also gets pretty crowded on weekends due to Peddlers Village.

I built a home in Lower Nazareth 5 years ago... I have 2 kids in Nazareth Area Scool District and find that is very good! 1:06 to EWR. State income taxes are 3.07% but there is talk from our Governor Wolf to be increased to 4.49%. There is also Earned Income Tax for township at 1.45%. Realastate tax around 12k for a 500k home. Love the area. The drive on I78 to work and back I have found very easy, probably cause I go in later in the day and return early. My parents also bought a house here last September and I can definetly tell you it is a SELLERS market, not alot of inventory but some new construction.
