Pennsylvania Recommendations

It’s not the best time to be looking at houses due to the state of the airline industry but I’m already in Pennsylvania for the next couple of days, so I’m doing so regardless. I’m looking for a less than 1:30 commute to EWR, good lacrosse for the kids and most importantly a strong school system. I am currently focusing on the Bucks County school system but am open to other alternatives. Does anyone have any advice or good guidance? I’m open to all recommendations. I’ll be scoping out the area the next three days. Thanks everyone!

I'm up in Northampton County, right at the base of the Poconos, 30 minutes northeast of Allentown in the Upper Mt. Bethel Township. Very rural, about 5 miles from the Appalachian Trail. My "no traffic" drive time is 1:05 to EWR Parking lot and 1:20 to LGA parking lot.

Thanks. It sounds like a pretty area and I’ll put it on my drive through list. I just need to look up the school system.

Pennridge school system is just NW of Central Bucks. Not as wealthy, but we have been very happy with our kids’ teachers. Maybe a bit more down to earth and less “rich kid”.

Does anyone have a good realtor recommendation in the Doylestown or Pipersville, Pennsylvania areas? Thanks.

Live near Nazareth in the Lehigh Valley. Nazareth school district is pretty good. Still some nice areas out of town if you want a little bit of room (few acres). 1:05 to EWR and 1:40 to LGA with no traffic.

There are other pilots out here, but you aren't living in an airline ghetto like the Woodlands down in IAH.

Skiing, hiking, some decent restaurants in the area. NYC is 1.5ish away if you're looking for a datenight/weekend in the city.

Definitely a car lifestyle, though. My kids don't play lacrosse, but it's popular around here.

Should be a buyers market in PA. I am basing it on all the dam3d yankees moving into SC from PA.

Seller’s market! NYC dwellers are fleeing and headed into places like PA now that the commute isn’t as big of an issue and they can work from home.

It’s a massive sellers market in Doylestown. Homes are going for asking price and usually considerably above that. My realtor friend says she’s getting 10 bids in the first couple days so sellers can be picky. A good friend sold his house in November for $70k over asking price and had 20 offers. Homes are pricey by most standards. I live in the township just outside the borough and it’s a 10 minute walk to town and 5 minutes to the train station. 1+20 to EWR. Our youngest is at CB West and they have a lacrosse team. All 3 Central Bucks schools are top notch as are the elementary schools. Homes close to downtown are just about impossible to find. That’s said, I posted a realtor friend’s contact info on your page. Good luck. PM if you come to town. We have a decent number of pilots in town.

I am transferring to EWR in a few months and we are looking around Villanova. Short train ride into Philly, easy access to NYC, good schools, exactly 1:30 to EWR.
