They clearly don’t expect a quick recovery. This will gut the top of the list and exacerbate the pilot shortage should this turn around quickly.

Will be good for the flow of lower pay new pilots.

This will not turn around quickly. People seem to be in denial about what is happening here.

Diseases run their course. For all the talk of flattening the curve perhaps a better solution is to isolate the most vulnerable then let it run its course. Once there’s general immunity it’ll have no power.

The real issue is how long to recover from the disruption?

The airlines won’t care about the *possibility* of a quick rebound. They are gonna plan for 2 years and if demand returns after 6 months then oh well, I guess we are flying 30% fewer seats around until they can slowly and judiciously add capacity.
