Time to carry extra fuel for tower issues

All,
Both MDW and LAS towers have closed recently due to an air traffic controller at each location contracting coronavirus.
I will be carrying some extra holding fuel on every flight for a while to ensure that I don't have to immediately divert should the destination tower be closed. I recommend all crews do the same.
Call it coronavirus reserve fuel.

Fly safe.

2000 lbs every time for LAS. At least fuel is cheap now.

You don't get it. Let's say you're going into SAN. What's to stop the airport from shutting down there for a while? Or PIT, ORD, EWR, FLL, or any other airport in the US?

This is not just about the airports that have been hit so far, it's every airport. Worldwide.

Uhh….hate to tell both of you, airports don't close because the tower is closed. It just becomes an uncontrolled airport.

+1

I also am currently advocating adding gas (within reason) to combat the psychological toll this is taking on all of us.

We are already distracted before we even get in the cockpit. Remove as many threats as possible. Be safe out there, and if your head is not in the game, please do not come to work.

I'm well aware of that. This is divert and holding fuel, because approach isn't going run as many aircraft into an uncontrolled airport.
Hate to tell you this, but if the tower closes, the number of takeoffs and landings per hour at an airport will decline.

ORD tower was closed for CVirus. We just flew in there with the closed tower,No noticeable changes. We talked to "Tower" on tower frequency.

Time to review uncontrolled airport procedures in the FOM...

I don't see the need for it. But I'm not the Captain.
