United made an error of growing too fast and mismanaged calculating a downturn in the economy. SK and Oscar running away with tens of millions of dollars for the great job they did.

If this is a downturn in the economy. I hate to see what a recession, or a depression looks like.

I love it how everyone complains about not growing fast enough in the good times, but now are complaining how the airline was growing to fast.

Hindsight is 20/20..... buy stock in Amazon in 2000 and hold, sell stock in AOL in 2000 and never look back.

I had AOL stock in the late 90s and should’ve unloaded it then. It began to tank and I didn’t react quickly enough. I was too idealistic and not realistic then. Obviously, a lesson learned!!!

I always fire up the APU the soonest of:
1) Passengers begin boarding or
2) FAs ask for water pressure (I'm on fifi)

I never cared about tripping over dollars to save pennies.

For all those that waited until the last minute to start the APU, thank you for the extra 12 cents in my last profit sharing check. Before taxes. It'll be the last profit sharing check I see for a few years. So stop doing that crap and make the passengers comfortable. Oil prices are below $20/barrel.

Growing TOO FAST????????????????????????????

OK, you've impressed me with your stupidity. You obviously haven't compared United's growth rates with other carriers, especially the LCCs. United's grown at the 4-5% range whereas LCCs have grown close to 20% per year for many years.

The only mgmt team with clairvoyance in this was JETBLUE who has been slow rolling a US-England expansion flights/talk for the better part of decade.

ooooooof. That’s giving them a lot of credit. I’d say they stumbled into an opportunity, but haven’t actually taken advantage of it yet. We’ll see how the eventual demand recovery goes.
