They’ve been beating that drum for a while. They already have their options for more rj’s. Personally I hope that Kirby wasn’t blowing smoke and we use these planes to retire the 145’s and 200’s over the next couple of years. That could significantly shrink UAX and increase hiring demands at UAL. I am also realistic and expect to be disappointed.
I heard a lady almost had a heat stroke on one the other day while the plane was waiting to takeoff . They had to return to the gate and get medical out there. Probably a lawsuit coming??The ac on those things is just plain pitiful and sitting back there on the tarmac with 49 other people, in the hot summer? No thanks. |
Kirby has pushed scope talks before. I expect the aircraft order to coincide with our contract advancement as expected SNJ/Contract/Scope all in one heap. Mgt might believe they have that 58% yes vote through and through. I sense what’s bubbling under the order news is RJ’s too! Beware.

The pilot group is pretty unified on scope from what I’ve seen and any give on scope would kill any possible agreement. We even pushed for tightening scope on the pandemic LOA. People know that the single class 50 seat fleet is on borrowed time and that there is no need to concede anything for a fleet that is aging out anyway. Kirby already knows his options. So far it appears that the plan is to convert more 550’s, keep the existing number of 70/76 seaters, and upgauge with the current and potentially large upcoming max order. Hopefully the pendulum is swinging. Eliminating the 200 and 145 fleet would remove over 200 UAX aircraft and replace that lift with aircraft flown by United pilots.

I agree... the incoming Max orders will be the regional feed for most destinations going forward. I think United is going at Southwest and is seeking to gain a share of their feed. Not experienced enough to say this is the case but looking at their marketing campaign against southwest is interesting

Deadheading to training this spring wasn’t much better while standing outside in the cold drizzle waiting on our green tag bags. I’m sure glad that I wasn’t in uniform. Several people mentioned that they regretted flying United and would be going back to Southwest. I can’t say that I blame them. I’m buying tickets on Delta this fall to take the family to go visit my parents rather than fly on CRJ’s. When employees shy away from the brand, we can’t expect customers to be loyal.

Yes United should be ashamed of the entire express operation at Dulles . It’s absolutely pathetic in every aspect .

Why doesn't UA want any MAX7s...seems like it would be a good fit...and the MAX10 sounds like it will be even worse than a slick -900.

Also, "I'm never flying _____ airlines again" is one of the biggest lies in aviation. |
