Given this aggressive hiring right now, I'd say it's more than just talks

It’d be nice to see the E195 enter the American market

I know there will be the “I’ll believe when I’m sitting in the seat” crowd butUnited need to do something. Our entire 320/319 fleet (except China southern) will be 30 within 10 years. Our entire 737-700 fleet, half our 800 fleet and all the 900 non ERs will be 30 within the next 10 years. We’re talking 200+ aircraft that need to be replaced.

Our current order book is for 757 replacement and moderate growth.

the a220-300 would be better a better replacement for the 319/737-700 from a pax capacity perspective.

close but not quite. The youngest 319 (non China southern) was delivered in May 2002. So they have 11 years till the entire 319 fleet is 30 years old.

Sources are now saying it’s upwards of 300 aircraft. Appears to be A321s, MAX and 787s. I’ll take it!

I’d also be curious to know how contract negotiations are going given all this ordering news. Hopefully we will hear something soon if there’s info to share.

They’ve been beating that drum for a while. They already have their options for more rj’s. Personally I hope that Kirby wasn’t blowing smoke and we use these planes to retire the 145’s and 200’s over the next couple of years. That could significantly shrink UAX and increase hiring demands at UAL. I am also realistic and expect to be disappointed.

he can ask all he wants……if he wants to fly around 30+ year old airplanes and pay for the HMVs that cost more than the airframe, then we will happily fly them.

managment doesn’t hold the cards on this one.
