Agree about snapshots. Good points, thanks for sharing.

No problem! Hope my post didn’t sound condescending.

I’ve already changed my mind 2 times since I’ve posted. Thinking if that’s the case I’ll sit this one out.

Damn near everything in IAH is ridiculously senior. Upgrade on 73 is pushing 15 years while CA slots go empty on east and west coast. :(

I get the distinct impression that IAH is very senior compared to the other domiciles. Since (73/320)upgrade would be a considerable number of years, if someone was to bid B756 in IAH in the interim, how long would be a realistic wait for that award?

Not clear exactly what you’re asking- as of the last vacancy, NB CA in IAH bottomed out around 5-6 years with the 737 going a bit junior to the 320. IAH 756 FO got essentially to the new hire level. As always, current conditions are no indication of future opportunities.

Also, hiring trends will really skew yearly comparisons going forward. Right now, the difference between a new hire & a 6 year guy is around 4,000 seniority numbers. If that 6 year guy looks upwards 4,000 numbers from his position, the disparity in hiring dates could be decades. Assuming current hiring trends continue, today’s new hire will be able to look 4,000 numbers down the list in less than 2 years.

The position of an x-year pilot is today is a pretty poor indicator of where you’ll be in x years.
